MYLOOKS

Today I purchased an amazing red lipstick that I feel I will be obsessed with for a long time. The beautician told me that if I add a little liner, I would look like Gwen Stefani. I'll definitely take that as a compliment.

Straight out of my inspiration this morning. I may not be trotting around the European landscape (just yet), however I can dream until that day comes.

Vintage tee, forever 21 bangles, beautiful gorgeous sun.

A ruby red as blood;
A sapphire shines as blue as heaven

Recently I bought a lovely pair of tan and dark brown wedges for the summer months. At first I was sceptical of my closets contents and how a pair of brown faux leather wedges would compliment certain pieces, as I tend to stray towards blacks and whites. However, this green dress paired with a vintage brown belt was the perfect touch for this cool Saturday.

Thursday was a whirl of a day. Classes, then two hour traffic, then sushi with the girls.
Sushi was absolutely amazing, and delish.
I've realized that I have a nautical theme going on with my clothing recently... goes hand in hand with my dreams to be on the ocean in a boat, sailing my life away.

thought this was a neat angle.

This past weekend, the theme of nautical was everywhere. First off, I went out for dinner at a patio by the harbor, which was very cute and quaint. The atmosphere was amazing, and as the sun was setting it lit up all of the boats in a very romantic setting. I ate the most delicious food, and it was also the first time I heard of, and proceeded to devower a thing called goats cheese cake. The next day I headed off to work wearing a gorgeous pearl necklace. On Sunday, we went sailing on the lake for a good portion of the afternoon. It was absolutely wonderful; the weather was superb and the sun was shining.

hummus and goats cheese salad, with toasted pitas, chickpeas, sundried tomatoes and yellow carrots.

mixed greens with candied pear dressing, strawberries, goats cheese, grapes and crusty croutons.

fathers day: went on the boat for a three hour cruise along the lake. it was gorgeous outside

Today I met up with an old friend, and had a great conversation while we were sitting on a patio by the local yacht club. Today was absolutely stunning outside; the sun was shining for most of the day, and it was HOT. I loved it. So, to be fitting, I wore red, silver and glads.

Today I had an urge to wear my new red shoes, and what better way to pull off a cute pair of summer wedges than to pair it with nautical inspired blue and white stripes. The sun was shining, I was wearing adorable heels, and I think I might have even gotten a sun tan. To keep this look on the 'warmer' side, I opted for jeans and a navy blue poncho pullover.

winter is such an un-inspiring month for clothing unless you wrap yourself in a lux fur coat with matching leather gloves, hence the lack of outfit posts. However, with the sun shining today, and definitely NO reason to leave my warm house, mixed with the extreme cold warnings I decided to throw a little bit of hopeful spring into my outfit with a gorgeous flower necklace.

post remembrance day, I decide to still sport red. casual going into work day... I'm in love with my Parisian inspired shirt, which fits perfectly with my oversize RED RED RED scarf.

Gorgeous long chain silver, Mayan inspired necklace from Ken Bell's new Fall line. I thought it was appropriate to wear while I was training at the store. I'm also wearing a charm bracelet and silver and jeweled bangle. All the jewels dress up the purple silk blouse I decided to wear.
Everyone loves hopping in the car on a whim, not really knowing where they're going to end up, on a sunny, absolutely gorgeous afternoon. And that, is exactly what I did. Thanks to Natasha Bedingfield and her pocket full of sunshine, I blasted my stereo and headed in the direction of the beach. Single, Unwritten and These Words later, we found sun, sand, and water (unfortunately lake water... one can dream about oceans I guess).

I found a tye-dye scarf among my mess of a room (my closet has seemed to have exploded all over my floor..) I makeshifted it into a shirt, and paired it with a pair of jean shorts. Later, at the beach, I took it off and wore it as a headband.

An hour or so later, we were rushed off our beach towels by the sound of omnious thunder and bright flashes of lightning. Oh well, the time spent was ridiculously hot, and I got to witness a seagull swoop down and snatch a chicken finger straight from my brothers fingers, inches of him putting it in his mouth. It was quite a sight.

Yesterday I made a trip into Port Hope to see the lovely Ken Bell and visit his gorgeous jewelry store. We chatted for quite some time; about anything and everything, but mostly about how I will be working with him in the near future on a bunch of things. I'm pretty excited about it, because I will finally have a good reason to go into the store and stare at all the amazing designs for hours. I'm wearing a thrifted nautical skirt, worn as a top, with white shorts. I'm wearing a plastic knotted necklace and a red and orange beaded bracelet I designed.

Yesterday afternoon I had the lovely experience of coming across a cute little cafe and flowershop in downtown Bowmanville. I was on a shopping stroll with my mom, and the cute window display lured us in for a chai latte and pink and white roses.
Chai Latte Sips.

While sitting down and enjoying the afternoon burst of chai infusion, my mom and I watched the tedious perfection inspecting process as rose stem after rose stem was placed in a huge silver ice bucket. At one point it started to overflow and I decided right then and there that I want to have a rose fountain in my front yard... where rose petals are always flowing through the water...

The Flower Shop portion of the cafe was heavily into creating gorgeous wedding floral arrangements. This one was my favourite.

We ventured to a cute antique shop down the street. The name Under the Toadstool definitely caught our eye.

With a lovely window display.

While rumaging through all the gems and jewels,  I found a display of beautiful vintage pearls. Audrey Hepburn kept popping up in my head afterwards..

If the pearls didn't excude elegance and luxury, these perfume bottles surely did. I miss the days where purchasing a perfume was a reflection on your personal image and style: everyone had to have a inticately designed perfume bottle to display in their powder room.

And of course, no vintage shop is complete without the vintage dresses. These were gorgeously hung from the ceiling, catching my eye as soon as I walked in. The patterns were possibly a tad over the top and did not suit the fashion of day to day dress styles, but they were pieces of artwork to be admired.

Yes, I wanted to try on white gloves. I found myself a pair... and a yellow hat.

Another display dripping with gemstones, pearls and jewels in exotic colours.

Jackpot: I have always had an obsession with Barbie, and now I can say that I have seen the original sewing instructions for Barbie's Seasons outfits.

All the pearls, antiques, and retro related treasures I found today inspired me to style an elegant, vintage outfit, locating the photoshoot in the jacuzzi... it seemed elegant enough.

My oufit consists of a black knee length vintage skirt transformed into a mini v-neck dress, paired with ripped black tights and POUNDS of pearls (literally).

I attached two strings of pearls together, and knotted the ends to create a focal point within the necklaces.

A lady will never forget heels.

In reply to my most recent post mentioning how you SHOULD VOTE for WENDY WONG'S design for the Elle Stoli Pomegranate design competition, I decided to make use of my pink floral dress from H&M. Pomegranates are a glorious shade of red, so I decided to tone it down and go with a glorious shade of pink.
Sometimes you just need to take advantage of the beautiful weather and have your own Stoli pomegranate inspired floral photoshoot/garden party.
I am wearing a light pink cotton slip dress with floral arrangements on the shoulders, and have paired it with a coral jeweled belt (which is actually a necklace) and intertwined one of my rock coral pink rock bracelets as a center piece. The rock bracelet is for purchase, and if you are interested contact me!
Cheers to the lovely weather xox
