A Tribute to L'Wren Scott - Found Dead in Her Apartment

Devastated fashion fans, family, friends and boyfriend Mick Jagger from the Rolling Stones were shocked to find out about the death of model and fashion designer L'Wren Scott. She was found yesterday morning (Monday March 17th 2014) in her apartment supposedly unconscious by her personal assistant. It was later determined that she hanged herself. Although many have seen her brand as successful, it was recently determined that she was $6 million dollar in debt. She was quoted as being embarrassed that her design label was not producing enough money (Daily Mail UK) and this as been the suspicion of the cause around her sudden suicide.

Seen below is the SS RTW 2014 Collection recently released by L'Wren Scott in September 2013 for London Fashion Week. It is a collection of edgy and ancient inspired pieces which reflect inspirations from textiles in Tokyo.

Quote taken from Vogue Review by Hamish Bowles:
L’Wren Scott was haunted by the poignant story behind a seventeenth-century Tagasode screen that she saw in the Tokyo textile museum. Literally meaning “whose sleeves?” these exquisitely painted screens depict a woman’s wardrobe finery carefully displayed on clotheslines or draped over wooden frames—the clothes telling her character as surely as a portrait would. The backstory is that the woman’s husband is at war and she cannot wear her finery whilst he is away, so she displays it to show visiting friends instead. The question hanging in the air, of course, is: Will he ever return?

Chic Hipster Rose Patterns- The Antique Chandelier

(Click on the images above to be redirected to Zazzle.com where you can customize and purchase each item).

I know that I have been absent in the world of fashion lately, and especially posting on my own blog, however I have made the decision to try super hard to post consistently like I used to. As some of you may know, I have created my own design business, specializing in, but not limited to, wedding invitations, accessories, iPhone cases (including iPad and any brand of phone you can imagine) as well as many other things. It is called the Antique Chandelier (www.antiquechandelier.ca) So, for this reason, I have not posted since last year (yikes!). I am still so happy to see that I have visitors everyday, and that I am at around 150,000 views!
This is quite amazing, and it is not something that I want to give up on easily. So, without further ado, I will promise to post more regularly.

As this is a fashion blog, I have posted something fashion related- a fresh and fun design for spring! Hope you like it!

I have to admit, sometimes I like straying away from my usual daily routine, consisting of designing umpteen amounts of wedding invitation suites and their matching accessories. So the result of my mind taking a wander today was this (in my opinion) super girly and cute rose design with a hipster twist. I decided, for the purpose of the fashion collage, to design a wristlet and an iPhone 5 case. This fresh new hipster inspired design would fit perfectly with this adorable outfit I have put together with the help of polyvore.com. I came across this super sweet rose dress and immediately knew it would be the attention grabber for this piece. Of course, not to worry if you don't have this exact dress, any article of clothing will do really!

Lady Gaga -Applause

Lady Gaga has done it again. She has evolved, morphed, and created a wonderful creature that will be loved unconditionally by her loyal little monsters. Applause went viral today, and Lady Gaga herself encourages your to order her single and pre-order her album ARTPOP. What do I love about it? For starters, SHE IS BACK. I have always been obsessed with Lady Gaga's amazingly jaw dropping, oh no she didn't style. And she is just as stunning as ever in her album cover, with her porcelain face dripping in watercolor. How sexy. She has taken on a new look, transformed her style into the next chapter of her ever changing life, and I am proud to say that I love it. Simpler and cleaner lines. Definitely a good look. As soon as I heard the beginning of this song, I knew it would be one I will be playing for a long time. Definitely a classic Gaga song in the making.
